Students are housed in a pension where 2-4 students share a bright and spacious room. Breakfast is included and each room has a refrigerator and kettle. There are many restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance from the pension, which is located in the popular Vinohrady sector of Prague. An easy tram or metro ride gets one to the Institute.
Upon acceptance into the program, you will receive a housing questionaire designed to pair you with an appropriate roommate. Roommate requests may be made on the questionaire.
Shared, clean bathrooms are in the hall. We recommend bringing a bathrobe, flip flops for the shower, and a handy carrier for your toiletries. Towels can be 'rented' for a small fee which is refunded when you return the towel. Otherwise, we recommend buying a thin, light and very absorbant towel that dries quickly (one brand is Aquis) for you to use while staying at the pension and during your travels elsewhere.
Suggested items:
- bathrobe, weight according to season, and slippers
- rubber/plastic flip-flops for shower
- plastic toiletries carrier/basket/bag
- lightweight travel towel
- small travel hair dryer with 220v switch and adapter (or buy here)
- travel size shampoo/conditioner/toothpaste/body lotion, etc
- easily washed clothing items, darker so they don't need as frequent washings as usual
- handy pill containers (to reduce wasted pill bottle space)
Any way to conserve space with your personal items is recommended.
Not recommended:
- lots of electrical gadgets which need adaptors, or worse, converters (from 110v to 220v), and take up lots of room in luggage and room
- valuable items (jewellery)
- huge hard suitcases which take up lots os space in your room (better to pack efficiently and use a soft bag which can be stowed)
