Prague Institute
Across the Czech Republic & Europe

Programming at the Prague Institute is enriched through it's many planned excursions. Not only are they designed to compliment fields of study but are fun, picturesque, and often unique adventures.

All Prague Institute programs (Spring, Summer and Fall) include excursions within the Czech Republic. They may include Cesky Krumlov (UNESCO town), Karlovy Vary (Spa Town), Kutna Hora/Sedlec (Silver-mining town and Ossuary) or others. Each course also has visits to nearby destinations specific to the course of study: ie. STS 323 World Populations and Food Prospects: Global Sustainable Human Development students participate in a 3-day working weekend on an organic farm outside Prague.

Check under Programs and Courses to see what excursions are offered.

The Spring and Fall semesters include additional excursions to other European cities. Typically 2–4-day trips to Berlin, Paris, Munich, or Vienna are part of the programs' exciting adventures. They include program specific visits to museums, fairs, and sights: ie. the Fashion and Costume Design students attend the Pret-a-Porter Fashion Fair in Paris and visit the Musees des Arts Decoratifs for the latest fashion exhibition.

Check under Programs for specific destinations.

Because of Prague's central European location and no classes on most Fridays, students are able to plan weekend trips of their own in and around Europe. Many students also take the opportunities to travel during Spring and Fall breaks (the same dates as NC State) and before and after program dates. The Institute is available for luggage drop-off  for those who wish to do so before further travels. The library at the Institute provides ample material to research other areas while in Prague, or you may reference the Travelling Around section for more information.
