Visual & Performing Arts GEP: 3 Credits |
This course will concentrate on the music of Czech composers: those well-known and beloved like Janacek, Dvorak and Smetana; those whose Czech origins are less-known like Biber, Stamitz, Neruda, Gluck, and Hummel; and those 20th century composers whose music encourages or discourages their origins for a variety of reasons (political, social, geographic) which we will explore in depth: Martinu, Mahler, and Karel Husa--now living in Apex, North Carolina.
