ADN 480: Digital Photography International Studio

UNITS
6 Credits

Photography is the closest medium we have to a universal means of communication. Students will develop an ability to see the world around them and turn this into a visual language. The studio provides students with practical experience related to composition, perspective, expression and mood that can be translated into dynamic visual communication using a digital camera.

The magical city of Prague and its surroundings provides the ideal environment for exploring, observing and recording. Students will also learn studio techniques with glass and metal, and fashion photography coordinated with the fashion and costume design students.

Course objectives:
• Acquire skills to operate a digital camera
• Apply the vocabulary of digital photography and digital imaging
• Make appropriate choices about composition, resolution, lighting and depth of field
• Compare and contrast differences in digital and traditional photography
• Apply skills to handle complex workflow of inputting, editing, and outputting using Photoshop
• Incorporate the technical, aesthetic and critical aspects of photography into their work
