The scope of the semester projects will focus on sustainable design and urban planning. Students will implement 21st century information and technology in the context of an historic environment.
Students will begin by learning site analysis: the interrelationship of the intended site with the environment, including topography, vegetation, climate, sustainable and perceptual aspects. Through the synthesis of the programmatic and environmental requirements, students will developed a coherent and aesthetic concept by working with functional, physical, technical, legal and sociological contents. The sustainability learning focus will be in the following categories: sustainable site, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials, resources, indoor environmental quality and innovation in design.
