The seminar series begins with the history of Prague and Czech architecture, followed by an introduction to sustainable design principles, LEED requirements and the basics of urban design and neighborhood development. Students study the sustainable architecture of Europe, the United States and the Czech Republic through case studies, practical analysis and visits to both historical and LEED buildings in Prague. The seminars also include guest lecturers and site visits to buildings classified as sustainable architecture. Additionally, students watch and discuss films of international architects and architecture. In the course of the semester, students give presentations on various aspects of sustainable design, participate as a group in an analysis of the urban planning studio project, and apply what they learn to their individual design studio projects.
