Rebecca Rapp
Web Designer
Rebecca is principal of Rüka Studio—which she founded in 2003 as an interdisciplinary studio for design, art, activism, music, photography, and film. She is most driven by experiencing diversity in cultures, societies, and nature. As a result, she has kept her studio and work on the move. Rebecca's travels abroad began in 2001 to attend NCSU's Summer Study in Prague while earning a B.A. in Visual Arts/Graphic Design from Loyola University, New Orleans. The focus of her studies was print-making, and more specifically poster design, stemming from her interests in design as a form of political action.
After graduating in 2003, Rebecca moved to Washington, D.C. where her socio-political interests intensified and led to a four month stint in the Middle East documenting the film Four Months & Ten Days: A Journey Through Palestine. The film made its premier on screen and television in 2005. Simultaneously, her poster design which placed third at the First Islamic Poster Biennale, was published in Mirko Ilic's and Milton Glaser's The Design of Dissent. Rebecca returned to her hometown of New Orleans to work at Zande+Newman Design until hurricane Katrina hit and wiped out many businesses, both figuratively and literally. She returned to Zande+Newman for a short while five months later, but then decided to pursue her work through Rüka Studio full-time. She is currently working mainly in print and web media.
