Magdalenka Hellebrandová graduated from the Czech Agricultural University (as Agricultural Engineer) studying the quality of food products. While studying she also worked in the chemistry laboratory of the Bee Research Institute in Dol, just outside of Prague. Her focus was on enzymes in honey as quality parameters. Combining her scientific knowledge of what constitutes healthy food and how it’s grown, and a family lifestyle that nurtured living with nature, she developed a love of cooking with fresh and quality products. Magdalenka is currently a professional baker. She says, “I was raised in a wonderful country house with a big garden, and vineyards by the river. Since we didn’t have a living room or TV, the kitchen was where everything important happened–homework, gathering with friends and family, reading, and, of course, cooking and eating.”
